Event narrative

The NWLON recorded gusts over 60 mph after 10:32am. The 92 mph was the instantaneous peak gust. General gust speads were in the 50-77 range with winds starting to decrease to less gusty after 10pm. Spotter reports indicated uprooted trees.

Wider weather episode

On October 23rd, 2018, a rapidly intensifying low brought a front onshore in the early afternoon. This increased winds around Prince William Sound above 70 mph, causing some damage in Cordova. In Whittier, due easterly winds combined with an unusually high tide caused significant erosion and damage along the dock.
