Visibility below a quarter mile was reported in Visalia. Several school districts opened late or delayed or cancelled morning bus service due to dense fog. California Highway Patrol reported fog related two car accidents near Shafter and near Alpaugh with visibility as low as 100 feet.

Clear skies allowed for dense fog to become more prevalent in the San Joaquin Valley during the morning of January 29. Fog reduced visibility below a eighth of a mile at several locations and several school districts either opened late or delayed or cancelled bus service. The dense fog also resulted in at least two major car accidents. Once again, the fog dissipated by late morning.
