Park officials reported a wind gust to 58 mph (50 knots) at the RAWS observation site at Coker Creek.

Wider weather episode

A strong pressure gradient brought non-thunderstorm damaging winds to the higher elevations of east Tennessee on the 17th. Strong winds in the valley was responsible for one death in Loudon County.
