The Knoxville News Sentinel newspaper reported a 63 year old man died when a tree on a hillside was pushed by strong winds and fell on his vehicle as he was traveling west on Vonroe Road in Loudon County.

Wider weather episode

A strong pressure gradient brought non-thunderstorm damaging winds to the higher elevations of east Tennessee on the 17th. Strong winds in the valley was responsible for one death in Loudon County.
