Event narrative

The Angel Fire airport reported a peak wind gust up to 59 mph.

Wider weather episode

Fast westerly flow aloft in the wake of a strong winter storm system from February 19, 2019 allowed mountain wave activity to produce localized high wind gusts along the central mountain chain. Relatively tranquil winds were reported across a vast majority of the state, however Angel Fire and Clines Corners both saw peak wind gusts near 60 mph. Winds were strong enough to cause blowing snow across several roadways within the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and far northeastern New Mexico.
