A mixture of rain and snow developed across the South Carolina mountains during the afternoon and evening of the 8th, transitioning to all snow in most areas by early evening. The snow became heavy at times during the evening into the overnight. By the time the snow tapered off during the morning of the 9th, total accumulations ranged from 2 to 4 inches across most of northern Oconee and Pickens Counties, to 6 to 10 inches, with locally higher amounts of as much as 20 inches above 2000 feet along the North Carolina border.
