Event narrative

A Winter Storm produced 4 to 6 inches of snow and sleet, and 0.10 of freezing rain across southern Centre County from February 11-12, 2019.

Wider weather episode

Low pressure pushed well west of Pennsylvania, crossing the Great Lakes and pushing a significant wintry mix of precipitation across central Pennsylvania. Snow fell across the entire area, before gradually changing over to sleet and freezing rain from southwest to northeast. The swath of heaviest snowfall was found along and just east of the Allegheny Front, from Somerset County northeastward across Bedford, Cambria, Blair and Centre counties, where anywhere from 6 to 9 inches of snow and sleet was observed. Locations across southern Pennsylvania, from Somerset County eastward to Lancaster County observed 0.25 or more of ice accumulation.
