Event narrative

A weak area of low pressure moved through the Great Lakes region on the morning of January 26, allowing for a single band of lake effect snow to push back onshore in Erie County, PA. This low brought some additional moisture to the region, allowing for this band to flare back up with snowfall rates in the 1 to 2 inches per hour range. This band lasted just through the morning hours on the 26th before dissipating. Some scattered lake effect snow showers developed in the afternoon, allowing for an additional inch of snow accumulation. A maximum total of 7 inches of snow was recorded in Harborcreek with 5 to 6 inches of snow recorded in Erie, North East, and North East Township. Erie International Airport recorded just under 5 inches of snow.
