A rapidly strengthening low pressure system moved from the southern Plains to central Lake Michigan, bringing heavy snow to northern and parts of central Wisconsin. There was less snow, but freezing rain and a wintry mix in east-central Wisconsin.
Some of the highest snowfall totals included 8.2 inches in Rhinelander (Oneida Co.), 7.7 inches near Merrill (Lincoln Co.), 7.2 inches in Florence (Florence Co.), and 6.7 inches in Wausau (Marathon Co.). East-central Wisconsin received a wintry mix and freezing rain in addition to the snow. Snow amounts there were minor, but some locations received around one-quarter inch of ice accumulation.
