The strong winds recorded here occurred during a winter storm with snow and blowing snow. The Timber Mountain RAWS recorded a gust to 68 mph at 25/1203 PST and a gust to 62 mph at 25/1303 PST. A gust to 61 mph was recorded at 27/1403 PST, a gust to 64 mph was recorded at 27/1503 PST, and a gust to 62 mph was recorded at 27/1603 PST.

Wider weather episode

A stalled front over the area brought an extended period of heavy snow to northern California. It was also very windy at times.
