Event narrative

The tornado crossed from Alcorn County into Tishomingo County. The tornado reached maximum intensity of EF-2 just northwest of Burnsville near Highway 72 where several well built homes suffered significant damage. Peak winds were estimated at 115 mph. Otherwise the tornado tracked through rural areas knocking down trees. A home on County Road 294 suffered minor damage before the tornado lifted.

A strong late winter cold front produced severe weather across portions of north Mississippi in the form of wind damage and one tornado during the afternoon of February 23rd.
