Event narrative

Caltrans and law enforcement started receiving reports of washed out roads and flooding around 2:30 am. A full closure of Hwy 20 is in effect as of 1:40pm.

Wider weather episode

Heavy snow fell over the mountains and extended down into lower elevations, causing widespread travel problems and road closures. Thunderstorms brought heavy rain and small hail with widespread road flooding. Gusty winds brought down trees and caused power outages.
