Event narrative

Caltrans reported that the river was running across the roadway way and that highway 4 needed to be closed. At 11:53 am Caltrans sent a notification that Highway 49 was reopened.

Wider weather episode

Heavy snow fell over the mountains and extended down into lower elevations, causing widespread travel problems and road closures. Thunderstorms brought heavy rain and small hail with widespread road flooding. Gusty winds brought down trees and caused power outages.
