Event narrative

According to media reports a bounce house was lofted up to 20 feet in the air and thrown up to 240 feet from its original position by localized strong winds. Video from the aftermath shows a dust devil in the background. Winds from a nearby mesonet station were less than 20 mph. Five youths inside the bounce house were injured, 1 critically.

Wider weather episode

During the afternoon of May 1st a dust devil that formed near the Zillah High School in Zillah Washingon, Yakima County. Five injuries (direct) including one critical injury were reported.
