A mesonet site 2 miles east of Montana Vista recorded a peak gust of 62 mph.

A deep upper level cutoff low was moving through the New Mexico/Colorado region with a a surface low moving from the eastern plains of Colorado into western Kansas. This system had an upper level jet of over 110 knots over El Paso which helped to mix down winds in excess of 70 mph at the El Paso International Airport and up to 90 mph on South Franklin Peak.
