Event narrative

One tree was reported down on Newman's Ridge Road near Mulberry Gap.

Wider weather episode

A cool front pushed southeast into the Southern Appalachian region at peak afternoon heating. More than enough instability was paired with sufficient directional wind shear for the development of mini supercell thunderstorms. The storms did not produce a tornado, but did generate a fair amount of damaging downburst winds during the late afternoon through mid evening hours.
