Event narrative

In the village of Allakaket, several roads were inundated including First and Second Avenue. Water also flowed over the road adjacent to the store. Several outbuildings were flooded and/or moved to higher ground. The local observer estimates water levels would need to rise 2 feet to flood the lowest elevation house. There were no known permanent structures impacted.

Wider weather episode

Higher than average winter snow pack (180% of average) in the Koyukuk watershed resulted in high water for several villages along the Koyukuk River. The village of Allakaket experienced the most significant impacts. There were two distinct peaks in water levels due to fluctuating warm temperatures well above freezing.
