Event narrative

Portions of the Winfield Main, Foley and Cap Au Gris levees were overtopped due to the rising waters of the Mississippi River. Between 20 and 30 homes were flooded and portions of Highway 79 were flooded as well.

Wider weather episode

Several areas were flooded due to levee overtopping or failure, flooding a number of homes and businesses. Two people died in the floodwaters in St. Charles County after driving their car into the flooded roadway.
