Event narrative

Water was over Highway 20 between 583 Avenue and 5835 Avenue. In addition, flooding resulted in extensive damage to public infrastructure including numerous county and township roads, culverts, and some bridges.

Wider weather episode

Rainfall of one to three inches on frozen ground and into a snow pack with between 1 and 3 inches of liquid water equivalent resulted in considerable areal flooding and flooding of small streams. Numerous roads were inundated by water, and several bridges compromised by high water, including five in Dakota County. Some of the most damaged roads were 260th Street near Emerson, and K Avenue north of Nebraska Highway 35 and east of Hubbard.
