NOAA Buoy 42020, 45 nm northeast of Port Mansfield, reported about 40 minutes of gale-force gusts as a cluster of thunderstorms moved across the Lower Texas Gulf waters beyond 20 nautical miles offshore. Peak gusts reached 39 knots at 830 AM CST.
Wider weather episode
Broad southwest atmospheric flow with embedded upper level disturbances combined with a stationary front over the Texas Gulf waters to produce two days of strong thunderstorm clusters, mostly east of the 20 nautical mile line (roughly east of 97 degrees west longitude). A few gale force gusts occurred at the NOAA Buoy (42020) approximately 45 miles northeast of Port Mansfield on the 10th.
