Event narrative

The Jones County Emergency Manager reported trees and power lines blown down in the far southwestern portion of the county. Some locations include Lakeridge Lane, where a downed power line caused a house fire, and around the intersection of New Clinton Road and Adahi Drive.

Wider weather episode

A persistent northwest flow upper-level pattern, along with a stationary front across the region, resulted in widespread thunderstorms across north and central Georgia with numerous reports of damaging thunderstorm wind gusts and isolated reports of large hail.
