A 3 year old boy left unattended in a hot car for around 2 hours died from heat stroke in Smyrna. The nearby Smyrna Airport AWOS reported a temperature of 91, dewpoint of 74, and heat index of 101 at 5pm CDT.

Hot temperatures in the 90s along with high dewpoints in the 70s resulted in heat index values between 100 and 105 on the afternoon of July 11. A 3-year old boy left unattended in a hot car died from heat stroke in Rutherford County. Elsewhere, isolated showers and thunderstorms developed across the southeastern half of Middle Tennessee during the evening hours on July 11. One report of minor wind damage was received in Putnam County.
