Event narrative

Sustained tropical storm force winds were common around Vermilion Bay. Cypremort Point recorded a wind gust of 64 knots, however observations were spotty.

Wider weather episode

Barry gained strength as it moved toward the Louisiana coast and obtained minimal hurricane status on the 13th before landfall. Mostly tropical storm force winds were recorded however hurricane force gusts were also reported.
