A powerful upper storm system combined with modest low and mid level moisture to yield scattered strong to severe storms during the afternoon and evening hours of the 9th. Storms developed first across the higher terrain of central south-central Washington and northern Oregon near the Cascades, then lifted northward, producing large hail and strong winds along the way.
