A Park Service employee reported a 65 mph wind gust at the Fossil Butte National Monument.

Wider weather episode

A strong area of low pressure passed to the north of the area and whipped a cold front across Wyoming. The tight pressure gradient as it passed through brought high winds to portions of Sweetwater County with a wind gust of 59 mph reported at the Rock Springs airport. In Lincoln County, a strong thunderstorm brought a 65 mph wind gust to the Fossil Butte National Monument.
