Event narrative

Minor damage and power outages occurred in the Custer area. A building in downtown Custer suffered more significant damage. There were no injuries.

Wider weather episode

A strong low pressure system moved across the region, bringing rain, snow, and strong northwest winds. The strongest winds were in the Rapid City area and parts of the southern Black Hills. Gusts over 80 mph in the Custer area caused damage, including the partial collapse of a building in downtown Custer.
