Event narrative
Over 2 inches of rain fell between 5 PM and 6 PM causing flash flooding to occur around Truth or Consequences and Williamsburg. Water and debris covered portions of Highway 187 making the road impassable. Las Palomas Canyon Road was also flooded. One water rescue was required. Also, the Ralph Edwards Park and Golf Course became flooded.

Moist, southerly flow at the surface combined with an upper level trough moving into the Great Basin to create a favorable atmosphere for heavy rain. A strong thunderstorm developed over the Truth or Consequences area and dropped over 2 inches of rain in an hour causing localized flash flooding.
