A participant in the Flat Rock Ultra Trail race was struck by lightning less than one quarter of a mile away from the finish line.

Isolated thunderstorms moved across portions of southeast Kansas during the afternoon hours. One individual was struck by lightning in Montgomery county and passed away. Elsewhere, heavy rains caused street flooding in Iola.
