Wider weather episode

High pressure built into central California during the morning of December 5 behind the departing storm which impacted the area the day before. This brought clearing skies and diminished winds to portions of the San Joaquin Valley. Areas of dense fog formed along the Interstate 5 corridor in Kern County where a fatal collision between two vehicles took place. Dense fog was also reported in Merced County along State Route 99 where visibility was reduced to below a quarter mile.
