Event narrative

Downtown Juneau and Douglas had prolonged wind gusts during the evening of 11/8 though midday on 11/09 ranging from 65 to 90 mph. Power outages were reported around town with a few blown down trees and a couple of broken windows.

Wider weather episode

A moderate low pressure center moved up from Dixon Entrance on the afternoon of 11/8 to off Cape Decision. While this was happening, very strong high pressure built over the Yukon Territory that Friday night to 1044 MB. 90 mph wind gusts occurred for both Downtown Juneau and Douglas. Damage was mostly minor with power outages and some broken windows.
