Event narrative

Emergency managers reported that half a bridge fell after a water surge. This occurred at Road PR-524 in Barrio Pellejas near central Pellejas. A few families were trapped given that the road was impassible.

Wider weather episode

An upper-level trough over the area combined with light steering flow, sufficient low-level moisture, and local and diurnal effects to result in the development of heavy showers and thunderstorms across most of interior Puerto Rico.
