October 1 started sunny, with recorded breaking heat across the region, as a highly amplified weather pattern occurred. As a shortwave riding over the upper level ridge brought an MCV across southern Ontario with the southern fringe of this activity scraping across western New York and Lake Ontario, a few reports of damaging wind were received across the Niagara Frontier. Connecting activity allowed for gusty conditions over the nearby marine areas, however activity weakened as it moved farther east into New York.
