The Getty Fire started in late October in the Santa Monica Mountains, near the Getty Museum, and burned into early November. The combination of warm and dry Santa Ana winds and critically dry vegetation allowed the fire to grow quickly, eventually burning 745 acres. The fire destroyed 10 residences and damaged 15 other residences.
