Alaska DOT reported 12 inches of new snow in 12 hours with difficult road conditions. 511.gov reported heavy snow and reduced visibility.

Wider weather episode

A complex weather system based in the Aleutian Islands brought multiple fronts across the area. This caused ice and blizzard conditions west of the Alaska Range, while entrenched cold air on the east side of the Alaska Range led to heavy snow.
