A foot of snow fell at the Milk Shakes SNOTEL. Elevation is 5600 feet in the Blue Mountains.

Wider weather episode

An unusually cold Arctic front settled into the region mid to late October, setting the stage for an early winter weather scenario. As a secondary storm system and cold front interacted with the mountains of northeast Oregon, moderate to heavy snow developed.
