Snowfall totals around 6 inches were measured at the Tahinichok NPS RAWS. It is estimated that up 10 inches of snow likely fell in higher terrain of the western Brooks Range based on satellite and model data.
Wider weather episode
A weather front associated with a low pressure system moving north through the Bering Strait and into the Chukchi Sea pushed across the Interior and Brooks Range. This resulted in significant upslope snowfall along the south slopes of the western and central Brooks Range from Oct 3-5th.
