Event narrative

Heavy snow blanketed the Antelope Valley as snow levels dropped to around 2000 feet. Weather spotters reported between 3 and 7 inches of snowfall, both in the foothills as well as the valley floor. Significant travel issues were reported, including the closure of Highway 138.

Wider weather episode

A cold and powerful winter storm brought significant winter storm conditions to the Antelope Valley as well as the mountains of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Snow levels bottomed out to between 2000 and 3000 feet. Across the Antelope Valley, snowfall totals of 3 to 7 inches were reported. In the mountains, snowfall totals up to 34 inches were recorded. Additionally, gusty winds in excess of 50 MPH were reported.
