Event narrative

Heavy snowfall and gusty winds impacted the mountains of Ventura county. Snow levels dropped to between 2000 and 3000 feet. Snowfall totals ranged between 12 and 24 inches above 5000 feet with 6-12 inches down to around 3000 feet. Additionally, gusty winds in excess of 50 MPH were reported. These winter storm conditions resulted in significant travel issues, including closure of parts of Highway 33.

Wider weather episode

A cold and powerful winter storm brought significant winter storm conditions to the Antelope Valley as well as the mountains of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Snow levels bottomed out to between 2000 and 3000 feet. Across the Antelope Valley, snowfall totals of 3 to 7 inches were reported. In the mountains, snowfall totals up to 34 inches were recorded. Additionally, gusty winds in excess of 50 MPH were reported.
