Following the departure of the storm of January 9, shortwave ridging resulted in period of clear skies, light winds and inversion conditions over the San Joaquin Valley during the morning of January 10 making conditions favorable for fog in the valley. Areas of dense fog formed by daybreak and visibility was reduced to a few hundred feet at several locations. The fog lifted into a low cloud deck by late morning which dissipated by early afternoon.
