A strong storm system brought snow and gusty winds to south central and portions of western South Dakota. Some freezing rain fell across south central South Dakota before precipitation turned to snow. The heaviest snow fell across southwestern into central South Dakota, as well as portions of the northern Black Hills and foothills, where six to 12 inches and locally higher amounts were reported. Gusty winds produced blowing snow and greatly reduced visibility on the South Dakota plains.
