The West Texas Mesonet station at the rim of Palo Duro Canyon State Park measured sustained winds in the 40 to 45 MPH range during this time period. The highest sustained wind of 45 MPH occurred at 11:26.

Wider weather episode

An intense surface low pressure system strengthened as it moved across the Oklahoma Panhandle during the day. An associated cold front passed through the Texas Panhandle.

High winds began during the morning across the Texas Panhandle and continued well into the afternoon. Numerous reports of sustained winds of 40 to 45 MPH were received. Numerous gusts of 58 to 66 MPH were observed. A few reports of damage were received.
