Wider weather episode
High pressure strengthened over central California during the morning of January 30 following the departure of a strong cold front. Winds diminished as the high built inland. However, with high clouds being present dense fog was confined to the center portion of the western San Joaquin Valley during the morning commute, most noticeably near Lemoore. Several school districts in Kings and western Fresno Counties opened late or delayed bus service as a result. The fog dissipated by late morning.
