Event narrative

Idaho Department of Transportation reported a rock slide across Highway 200 near Trestle Creek.

Wider weather episode

During the evening of December 10th through the morning of December 12th a warm front and a following cold front passage delivered heavy snow accumulations to the mountains of north Idaho and the valleys of far north Idaho. Mountain accumulations ranged from 10 to 20 inches during this period while the northern most valleys near the Canadian border also received 4 to 10 inches of new snow accumulation. Amounts of 1 to 3 inches were noted in the Coeur D'Alene area and the valleys of the Central Panhandle Mountains. Melting snow in the wake of this storm triggered a small rock slide across highway 200 in north Idaho which was quickly cleared.
