Event narrative

Strong wind gusts between 45 and 50 mph were observed at the Guanica Emergency Management office. An electrical pole was also down at Calle 25 de julio due to these strong winds.

Wider weather episode

Strong surface high pressure across the Atlantic Basin produced brisk easterly trade winds across the area. Patches of low-level moisture moved across the area, resulting in passing trade wind showers, which contained strong wind gusts.
