Event narrative
Without much break after the previous winter storm, another storm brought heavy snow to the central Cascades consistently from the 10th through the 18th. This storm affected the Passes, with storm total snowfall of around 80 inches at Stevens Pass and around 73 inches at Snoqualmie Pass. I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass was closed several times due to spin-outs and Highway 2 between Gold Bar and Skykomish was closed for several days due to heavy snowfall and downed trees and power lines. Over 200 motorists were stranded as a result of this closure.
Wider weather episode
Following closely on the heels of the previous winter storm was another winter storm across the mountainous terrain of western Washington. Periods of heavy snow continued off and on without much in the way of noticeable breaks over the course of a week.
