Event narrative

Wider weather episode

Mid-upper level shortwave trough crests the eastern Pacific ridge and dives SE across BC before shearing out across MT later in the day. Winds are quite strong along the immediate east slopes of The Rocky Mtn Front and will further increase across all areas as surface troughing deepens to the east of The Rockies while decreasing stability also brings moderate westerly flow aloft downward. Potential for wind gusts in excess of 50 kts exists along the immediate east slopes as well as some of the ridgetops across central MT, while most areas see gusts in the 35-45 kt range across the north-central MT plains.
