CoCoRaHS observers reported .9 inches of snow 4 miles south-southwest of Athens and .5 inches 1 mile south-southwest of the State Botanical Gardens.

Wider weather episode

A fast moving mid-level short wave swept through the region during the morning and early afternoon. With a fairly cold airmass in place over north Georgia and ample mid-level moisture, moderate to heavy snow quickly accumulated across a large portion of north Georgia.
