A peak wind gust of 66 mph was recorded by the Rosebud sensor.
Wider weather episode
A major winter storm system brought heavy wet snow and very strong winds to the Northern Utah Mountains. Little Cottonwood Canyon was particularly hard hit, with the heavy snow and wind combination resulting in a major avalanche event that closed area ski resorts for two consecutive days.
