An upper level trough was centered over southern Arizona. A dryline developed across West Texas. Very moist and unstable air was present to the east of the dryline as well as high wind shear. Upper lift increased as the upper trough moved closer to the region. These conditions resulted in thunderstorms that produced large hail across the Permian Basin.
