Strong north winds gusting as high as 45 mph produced waves as high as 11 feet along the Lake Michigan shore of Cook County. These high waves combined with high lake levels produced flooding, erosion and damage. In Chicago, North Avenue Beach was completely covered by water with water near on site facilities. The Chicago Park District bike path was flooded at 47th Street with erosion damage to the path. Some roads to lake side of South Shore Drive were partially covered by water. On East 73rd Street, water was up onto the sidewalk and was lapping against an apartment building.
